New A330/A340 simulator ordered

Finnair has purchased the A330/A340 simulator which is presently located at ZFB in Berlin. The simulator will be relocated this summer and is ready for training starting September 2009. The simulator engine options will include the A330 GE configuration. Simulator sessions are available for customer bookings now.

Petri Louhivuori is acting Vice President Training from October 1, 2008. Petri will also continue as the Commercial Director assisted by Peter Mäkinen the Sales Manager.

FINNAIR 85 years November 1, 2008

On Saturday 1st November, Finnair completed a distinguished 85 years of service, making it one of the world's oldest continuously operating airlines. Finnair was founded under name Aero in 1923. The company's first flight flew 162 kilos of mail to Tallinn from the Helsinki city harbour aerodrome. Finnair today is one of the industry's most experienced and modern airlines. We are proud of this achievement.

NEW INTERNET TRAINING COURSES LAUNCHED

CRM Recurrent course success
Our CRM Recurrent Module has become a very useful training course that complies with the annual JAR/ EU -OPs 1.0 requirement to cover 1/3rd of the syllabus.

This course has proved to save time and money compared with instructor-delivered lectures and allowed companies to gain a more level gradient of CRM knowledge and understanding for their pilots than was previously achieved.

Many operators have recently selected our CRM Recurrent course and have been pleased with the training results and their pilot acceptance.

RVSM tests
Now available online tests for all our RVSM courses. The online test provides immediate results and a test record. Available are RVSM courses that cover Europe, NAT, North America and PAC.

Dangerous Good courses updated
The latest 2009 version of the DGR course for pilots and cabin crew has recently received approval from the GCAA in the United Arab Emirates allowing a growing number of flight crews to benefit from using this training course.

Aircraft Type Technical Recurrent and Initial Tests
Our Online Test System has been successfully applied to Aircraft Type Tests for the annual Flight Crew Recurrent and Initial Qualification.

This application has been used for Finnair pilot training and for our customers with a variety of aircraft types and subjects with 100's of customer specific questions.

EMBRAER 170 AND 190 BASE TRAINING

Finnair is providing Embraer 170/190 base training to pilots from several airlines that are starting operations with this type. Finnair is able to provide this training with both Embraer types. In base training the pilots perform several landings with the actual aircraft. After this training the pilots are ready to start their line training under supervision.

Embraer's delivery forecast for the ERJs in 2009 is 270 jets. Finnair's latest E190 register OH-LKN arrived to Helsinki on Saturday 14 February 2009 after a 14h 25min ferry fligth. The route was San Jose dos Campos - Recife - Teneriffe - Helsinki. This is Finnair's 9th E190, the fleet includes also 10 E170s.

Finnair's Embraer 170 JAA level D full flight simulator is available to customer airlines on dry lease. Presently several airlines worldwide and Embraer use this simualtor.
